My 95 has been good... I have beat up on it a good bit in the time I have owned it... I'd have to say any series II is a hella good motor.... I do have a ticking lifter tho... The engine used to be ultra silent... I know the hard driving style and the milage has taken a toll... But I have yet to have any engine trouble... Its a light tick, only time you ever notice it is when you are under the hood... Hood closed and you'll never notice it...
I was worse on the 91 LE.... I tried to blow it up at one point, Damn thing just wouldn't let go... Car just didn't seem to have the snap that it once had so I decided to rip the heads off and have them done... All of the valve springs were shimmed... Had I known they were going to do that I would have told them to install new springs... I had also found that someone was in the engine before me and reused the head bolts, They were streched in a bad way... I found one that was almost popped in the block... Yes it streched that far... I wish I had that bolt so I could take a pic... Turns out there was some kind of issues with the rear head, and it had been off the car before... So I made sure I fixed everything right... Had a valve job and the like and had them use the new Viton valve stem seals from the head gasket kit... I can't remember if I did the heads in 00 or 01, but it has run great over that time...
I don't beat on it like I used to... I do like to get on it every now and again, and spin it out to the mark 5200... But by then its out of breath, makes its best power under 5000 rpms..
Amazingly enough I am still on that very same 2.84 4T60(440T4)... Due for another fluid change I think... Yes I am a nut when it comes to trans fluid changes too...
As you all know I am a nut when it come to oil and filter changes...
I am the same with the 95.... It does the 6000 Rpms shift... I have hit the fuel cut off a couple of times... Anymore I stay away from that too... I let it get to 6000 and shift... Yes I like to get on it every now and again... I have never done anything to the motor other than the lower intake gaskets and the upper intake... All of the internals are original... I have thought about some minor changes tho... we'll see what the tax season and bonus time brings...

You can get on it... But let it warm up a bit before you do... I may be hard on the cars, but I do like to let them warm up before I hit it...
The less abuse you give it will keep the tranny happy for a long time to come, I still believe in tranny coolers tho... Even on a 4T65-E... A unit with a Thermostat of sorts may be a good idea to help keep the trans cool, but not too cold, allowing it to warm up a bit... Also keep the fluid and filter changed... And like it has been stated no one wheel wonders, thats damage waiting to happen...
And for the happy 3800 II.... Be like me and keep that oil changed like a freak... 3000 miles should do unless you do a lot of very short trip driving... Always remember that the oil is the life blood of the engine...
The car should take some abuse, but remember just as it has been said here, you have to pay to play... lol... Oh how I have paid... LMAO

Jr3800, you a oil and filter change nut? I don't think so. I'm worse at least I think I am. I change my oil and filter way before 3000 mile mark and I don't even do a lot of short trip driving. I drive about 50 miles a day. I may be mistaken and you may be worse than me.
The tranny filter and fluid change, I'm due for one but I'm going to do that in the spring when it warms up. It'* too cold outside.

i believe that if you give the car a good WOT run every once in a while that is actually good for the car.....it cleans out the carbon build up...i NEVER go above 3K untill the car is at least above 150* tho....
i love to get going about 10-15 mph and then go WOT.....feels sooo good and isnt that hard on the trans as going WOT off the line

im still unsure if the two are related, but my UIM happened to blow while i was driving the **** out of my car...as a then 17 year old male tends to do when hes really pissed off...
so thats another thing that MAY happen due to abuse....or perhaps freak coincidence.
