Default Verifying a 40th anniversary?

Just purchased a 97 Bonneville SE. Previous owner purchased in 1998 and states that this is a 40th anniversary model. Car does have 40th emblems on rear window pillars.
Car has the 3.8, and is fully loaded except sun roof. Wine/burgundy exterior with tan leather interior.
Is there a way to verify through the VIN # ?
Thanks

Martin

am not sure about the vin number but i recently asked the same question.from what i collected a 97 would technically be a 40th year.Although the 40th anniversary package shipped with the badges on c pillars,40th anniversary floor mats and RPO code Y40 on the spare tire cover.maybe if you ran your vin through http://www.compnine.com/vid.php it should show if there is a 40th package

Yeah, Dakota and I asked the same question, and from what you've said so far, it'* a 40th anniversary edition.

Update,
Car passed e test and safety with no problems what so ever.
Car does have the 40 th emblems, floor mats and the y40 code on the label on the spare tire cover.
So far the car works wonderful, just have to look at the abs/traction control lights issue.
Garage scanned and said no power showing up at any wheel, so not the standard wheel bearing issue.
Will keep posting when I locate the problem.
Thanks

Another way to verify, look at your RPO sticker on your spare tire cover. Look for Y40.
