Interesting. I've never seen or heard of a chain breaking, much less wearing out on a stock or nearly stock FWD GM trans like ours.

When the car is parked the chain is stationary, or if the car is not moving the chanin should not be moving either... The Torque converter and the Trans oil pump are the items in motion while the car is sitting still... Look at all of the power these guys and gals are putting through their 4T65-E'*... We haven't seen hardly any of the chains ever break let alone a stock 65-E chain on an L36... I'd say the torque converter, maybe the pump... Unless the 4th gear splines have been worn off leaving metal bits in the trans... But deffinitely get a couple more opinions
