Blue lights are used by emergency vehicles, and snowplows. NO ONE else is allowed to have them.
Also they an emit too much light, not enough as mentioned as well. If they're pretty noticeably blue, they're not nearly as good at illuminating, no matter how many lumens they're putting out. Blue doesn't brighten things up well, roads being one of them. And at night yellow/white lights are easier to see then blue. Your lights are for other motorists as much as they are for you.

i will have to disagree on the fact of silverstars being the best. There are other brands of bulbs like mine that are hyper-white made by street glow and only cost $25 for a pair and have a blue tint to them. i think that silverstars are good dont get me wrong but they are overpriced and if you want to have bright white light they are awesome but many want the blue look and the hyper-whites are dot legal and have papers saying that they are. (hyper-whites also are brighter than silverstars because they run higher wattage) the hyper-whites have not hurt my electrical wireing in my car and i have had them for a good year and a half. Do not under any circumstances buy cool blue lights because they are the biggest waste of money ever and they are not blue. there are also red, purple, and green headlights that are dot legal for road use. but the only problem is if your cops in your area are touchy about things like that you might get pulled over to check them out. just make sure you keep your papers on it.

In Michigan, true blue lights are only to be used on police cars (rollers as I like to call them! ). Snowplows and other emergency vehicles cannot and do not have blue lights on them. Or else they are ticketed.
