Tranny line blew - raped out of $221
Yep. Happened in a similar fashion to Mr. willwren'* minor fire a long while back. Rubber tranny line to the rad blew, spraying transmission fluid EVERYWHERE. Since my dad was on his way to work, he had to stop by a Crappy Tire location to get it done - if he had chosen to get a tow home, it would have been a easy DIY $20 job and a little more to have the engine cleaned.
My dad noticed a whole lotta smoke pouring out the back of the car (on the highway), pulled into the Canadian Tire (Hwy. 7 & 400, not far from where one of the Bonny meets took place, spitting distance actually - my dad works just west of there)... "Blood" leaking and all over the place - no fire, though.
Charged $50 (+ $5 for the cleaner) to have the engine shampooed, which was no more than some Gunk engine sprayer put on and hosed off.
Gawd, it'* rare that our cars are taken in (all DIY, from brakes to suspension to engine rebuilds), but when they are, ahhhhhhhhh
... to add insult to injury, all parts (hose, cleaner, tranny fluid) totalled $16. Go luck
Oh... and were there any recalls on this for the '91? I knew of something for the 1992+?
