well trust me if i did tow id being going really slow cuz well ive only had the car passed 3000 rpm a few times so trust me i baby my car. id install a tranny cooler and gauge before id even try, and the speed limit is only 55 the whole way and their only 2 or 3 big hills.

Meh, only above 3000 a few times....thats a normal acceleration dude.Although my car has only seen 4000 a few times.

well i talked to my wife and told her about the weight and she said "jim honestly i dont want one look how much i use my bike u spent alot of money on that bike and i dont ever use it u know how i get bored with that kind of stuff so why dont u just get one moslty cuz im not in to atv and we can share yours" so it looks like when i get one ill just be getting one so weight should be fine right?

I would think so. I mean I am currently building and enclosed 6x 8.5 foot trailer and will be hauling my go-kart to and from the race track. I am not however going to use the Bonneville since it is 15 years old and Renee does NOT want a hitch on the car, LOL. So I am going to be using my Malibu which has the 3100 in it and is a smaller car. It is rated about the same for weight but for some reason they make a class 2 hitch for it which can handle 3,000 lbs trailer weight and 300lbs tongue weight. The class 1 hitch is designed for 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight ( I may be off a bit). I am going to be installing a tranny cooler to be on the sage side though.

So as long as you take it easy you should have no problem towing only one quad.

I would say that a trans temp gauge and trans cooler are REQUIREMENTS for this venture. And the temp gauge will scare you.

Having fragged my own trans, I wonder how much of that was due to occasionally towing? I'll never know, but I'll treat the new trans accordingly. Less towing, more burnouts.

Note that the 2000+ hitches are a totally different application. SSE and SSEi for 92-99 are a specific hitch, SE'* and SLE'* are alot easier to do.

The beater truck idea isn't terribly bad, and with one ATV you could put it in the back and not need to tow. I remember people talking about subframe style connectors on their cars with "towing packages", maybe you'd wanna look into this?

One thing to remember about the beater truck idea ( I thought of it for towing my racing trailer), you have another vehicle that you have to maintain and pay insurance on. Up here we pay alot for insurance.

i like the beater truck but i really dont want another insureance payment other then the 2 cars a possibly a quad, ok so will 1 quad hurt? i do plan on installing a tranny cooler and gauge what the diff between a class 1 and class 2 hitch? just weight? is their a fold down hitch?

Yes they are just rated for more weight. I have not seen any kind of fold up hitch since they are usually bolted to the frame.
