i need to attend to this before i put down the new carpet...
i only saw one pinhole sized drain hole...
my thoughts are to get out the wirewheel brush attachment for my drill and go to town, get it down to the bare metal, and then spray on some good ole rust stop spray paint

this is after about 30 min with the drill... good enough ya think?
any spot you see that is dark, is actually bare metal.. just the way the flash made it look

I
suggest a couple coats of POR15. Really good stuff.

Geez Andrew, I hope mine doesn't look like that! No doubt with all the water leaks these years have, I'd bet a lot of floors look like that under there. Makes me wanna pull my carpets now and looksee! Give'r a good coat of something in there so that beast will hold up for you for a few more years!

when i pulled out the carpet it was about double the weight for all the water it was holding, however, it could be soaked and you wouldnt even know it, because the carpet is waterproof, shown here: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...61937&start=20

all this water must have been coming from the trunk, or BOTH door seals are bad...
ill be doing some testing before the carpet goes back in to see where it was coming in

i'd spray it down with some protectant like you just mentioned.
I dont see how gm'* quality control deparment or engineers did not make better seals on these cars, its like they did not even care what happened after the warranty expired, vs the pre-2000 where the gaskets rarely fail to the point of leaking that bad.
