Since you posted this in the wrong thread, I might as well give the results in here.

I tried to re-adjust the cable, as you instructed. But it made no difference. I actually have to let off the gas if I am driving slow for it to change gears. I drove it around a bit and I have NO OD right now. One thing I did notice is that my temp gauge will not go over the first mark. SO it is below 1/4 if you want to look at it that way. I even brought it up to 100km/h ( 60 mph) and went for a 20 min drive, still no OD, but it was kinda cold tonight and the temp didn't rise enough. So I am guessing that my loss of OD is due to the low engine temp and the computer will not let it get to OD.

As for the shifting of gears. Does anyone thing that the throttle assembly ( where all 3 cables mount) is different on the Bonneville as on the Olds Toronado Trofeo, I mean maybe a bit longer. Cause when you try to adjust the cable by pushing that tab down and pulling the cable out, then pushing it to WOT, you set the tension, but maybe it is setting it too high. Is there a way to have less tension on it?? Almost like I have to hit that tab, and push the cable back in a bit, not pull it out, that way there is less tension on the cable, so you have to push the gas more before it will go into passing gear.

When I was driving it tonight, I was slowing down and went around a corner, when I slowly pushed the gas it actually down shifted when it normally wouldn't.

If there is a difference it is very small. I will have to have a close look in daylight. Worse case is I have to change the bracket. It may also be the way the TV cable bracket end ( where the TV cable attaches to) might be turned oh so slightly.

I think I am more worried about the lack of OD right now. I am trying to search the forum about engine temp and going into OD but nothing yet.

There was no difference if I had it in 3rd or OD. As for the temp, I am looking for the post a while back that had the pictures of where people'* temp sat.

Mine right now is just under the 1/4 ( first ) mark.

When I was going 100km/h, that was after driving for 15 minutes or more, and when I let off the gas it still didn't kick in. So if my adjustment of the TV cable is in the wrong direction then that could explain it. Not sure if you know what I am talking about as in the wrong direction for the TV cable. When I followed your directions, that will actually place more tension on the cable, since you pull the cable out of place and then snap it back in, I would almost have to push it in, then pull it back into place.

I will know more once I take a few measurements and have a good look at things.

well right now driving at hwy speed ( 60mph) it is reving at about 2500 rpm or more, it is sucking back the gas when it does this.

Well it was bugging me so much it couldn't wait till morning ( I am the only one like that??). I went outside and played with the adjustment to see how it really worked. When I adjusted it according to the instructions ( in the earlier post), it was putting too much tension on the cable, as in I was pressing harder on the gas then I really was. So I figured out that I can just as easily push on the tab and push the cable back in to give it more slack.

So right now I have it so the "slider" (according to Haynes, at least I think it is that part), is actually sitting more exposed inside the bracket, thus giving me more slack on the cable. I would have taken it out for a ride to test it, but being that it is almost 1 am here, and with the magnaflow on it, I would be waking people up. So I will wait till morning to test it. I figure I went too far ( as in too much slack) but we will see.
