Exactly. I'd have to be smoking some special stuff if I considered the 91 SSE to be cheap to repair... cheap enough to be worth bragging about, anyway.

You're kidding right?
I might be exagerating a little. However, my car seems super cheap to repair. Even at a shop it costs way less to have the same things done on some of my friends cars. I'm quite sure its the ease of working on them and the mass useage of these powertrains that make parts readily avialable. A collegue of mine has a Honda Civic DX and was quoted $2100 for an exaust leak at the manifolds. Same thing happened to a buddies 98 Grand am, almost same place too. They were quoted $780.

I'm a little late to reply and it'* already been said, these are great cars. I'm at 207K now on mine, I'm the THIRD owner. I bought it when it had 74K on it back in 1999. I plan to buy another one next year because of how great it'* been. Repairs have always been cheap, I haven't had to do anything major yet. I just replaced the ignition module at a cost of $130, did it myself. Funny thing the first coil bank had NO spark and the car still ran, a little rough but it was running. I replaced the plugs and wires with the module and found the plugs still looked good. I thought those two would have been fouled, they looked fine. It had me second guessing the module being the bad part. Now my tranny had a piece of the thrust washer in it on the last service, but it still drives fine.

Glad to see you got it fixed. Good luck with it

Ok a little update, and not a good one. Well I had my car at a Pontac dealership to get a lower intake gasket done and all. Well when they do that work their suppose to NO matter what do a full oil change. Well my car acted weird again so I had a tow truck get my car and bring it to my mechanic to check it out. Well he asked me today if he can see the receipt on what the dealership did to my car, and he calls them up and was talking to them well. He finds out they never did the oil change!! and he found either anti-freeze or water in my oil, I forget which one. So my dad called the dealership and was talking and they basicually told him it'* their fault and they FUKD up. Well it turns out my engine needs to be rebuilt!!!!!!! I am so pissed, pontiac dealership is paying for it, and I'm telling them there giving me also a loaner car, for what they did. But I can't belive this!! I have to see my girlfriend during Xmas break and for the people who don't know she lives in a differnet state and now this is jepordizing ( can't spell that word ) me seeing her!!

It'* spelled jeopardized. They should have drained the oil first thing, but it sounds like they are gonna spend a lot of money to make good on their mistake, and they are not trying to evade the issue or avoid responsibility. How would you like to be treated the next time you err?
