The 180 won't make your car run cooler in city traffic because even though it lets water circulate sooner, the fans still will not kick on until the factory preset temperature (200 somethin) so your engine will only stay cooler while you're forcing air through the radiator. Some members have installed fan overide switches so they can turn the fans on when they want.

Well they come from the factory with a 195* thermostat so yes, they make a 15* difference. It also helps that i have my PCM set to turn my fans on around 180* as well to match the thermostat. My car pretty consistantly runs under 185 degrees in all weather so that extra 15 degrees is just a little extra protection to my engine from heat.
