So long, Farewell, it'* been fun knowing you.
Well, at 12:47 this afternoon, my ever so trusty Firemist Gold 1998 SSE parted with me for a tenure with it'* new owner, the sister of the guy who bought my SSEi.
It was tough seeing both cars leave me, but having the cash in my pocket made it a little easier.
Anyhow, here'* what I was able to get before the camera batteries went dead.

Actually, I might not have a 3800 powered car. My dad and I are trying to decide what he'* gonna trade me - the Diplomat (for sure) and either the 1987 Nissan Stanza (35-40 mpg and it'* been a fairly trusty car for the past 8 yrs that we've had it) or the 1989 Buick Lesabre Limited (why it'* a Limited is beyond me -it doesn't have a tach, no power mirrors, no power passenger seat, and no digital climate control). He'* had the Lesabre for 3 years, but has only driven it 10 miles total as he bought it with front end damage and just put it together about 1 month ago. Oh, and I'm trading my portion of the ownership (the majority) of the 1997 Park Ave (I had borrowed $1G from him to fix it, but have $2300 out of my own pocket invested) to him.
I am still considering getting the Lesabre either way, and seeing as there is a very much totaled 1995 Park Avenue Ultra coming up on the insurance auction I just might convert the 1989 Lesabre into a sleeper with a 1995 Series I L67 drivetrain.

I'm gonna commit heresy and say that you oughtta take the Dippy. The 318 might start out as a pretty weak motor, but the bottom end is so strong, it'* insane. I've seen a Mirada run 11s with a stock bottom end. And it'* not like they lack for aftermarket either. You can get whatever your heart desires for a 318, cranks, cams, heads, blowers, specific-fit NO2 kits...
And it'* a perfect sleeper! It looks like some kind of gramma car, it'* even beige!

I have been looking at the price of modding this thing up to around 300 crank HP and around 400 lb ft -looks to be fairly easy -easily done for around $1.5G.
Headers: $200-300
Rockers: $150
True dual 2.5" exhaust with high flow cats and resonators with Magnaflow mufflers: $350
Intake mani: $150
Carb: $175
MP or MSD Ignition system to replace Lean Burn: $150-250
Plugs and wires: $70
and another $100 or so in gaskets, fluids and other hardware.
With all this I'll definitely have to go electric on the fuel pump and a nice 5 core radiator, but it'll be a good 12-18 month process.
Then I'll have to find a HD 727 for when the original pukes, after about 10-15 runs down the 1320. And that accelleration the 3800'* lack in the back 660 -to die for.

Wicked cool.
My buddy'* family currently has an '87 Fifth Avenue with the 318 (may be showing signs of a blown head gasket however :o ). At one point in time, an '86 5th as well as a diplomat rounded out his family'* stable. Good, powerful cars, and they sound pretty mean too.
