The part that drives me crazy is the cop takes the donut out of the idiots dead hands(dipping it in the coffee) and blames speed...GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Its the fact the person was not a good driver not the speed they were traveling at.
Speed kills?
Ya it kills idiot drivers our government does not want to Teach.

Personally I would just move over and let him merge, its kind difficult to play chicken with an 18 wheeler even though or bonnies are heavy, theres no way to win in this situation...
I see people all of the time, act as if that Big Rig is going to move or be able to stop on a dime... People want to pass so bad that the cut in front of the trucker and misses his massive front end by a couple of feet... But hey if they want to stupid, and kill themselves, what can I say.. Just please don't take me with you.... I think it just a matter of knowing how to drive.. I didnt learn at school or anything like that.. I learned from dad.. Dad has always been a good driver.. No accidents, but I think a couple of speeding tickets he never told about.... He made sure, I knew the limits of the car I was driving.. He made me learn how fast the car would go from a stop, he made me floor it a hand full of time wile driving, and brake hard as hell, so I would get used to how the car stops, and how quickly it would stop... Then winter rolled around, Damn that was fun All in all dad helped me become a well rounded driver.... I am always listening, and looking around and watching the road ofcourse, so I know whats going on around me.. Never know where that next fool is going to be.. He told me later, if you going to be a good driver you have to know what that car is capable of, and what it will and wont do... And always pay attention.. Well as much as he pissed me off, and once and a while still does, he was wright and he taught me well.... Woo Hoo for dad

Like most parents, mine showed me the basic ways of driving. I took it apon myself (young and stupid) to learn how to control the car. I went to open parking lots and did donuts in the winter, drove fast and braked hard. I don't condone my past driving habbits but they have helped me to be a better driver now. I have yet to panic in any driving situation that has arose. Like I said, this is not a go ahead for people to go and drive like this but I'm just saying that it helped me in the long run.

Point taken Dad can teach well but their needs to be a better driving program. Prevention is the ticket.... To talk to the road situation you talk about a good driver would have already been out of the merge lane ready for such an instance. I drive alot and one rig barely missed me while I was in the fast lane and I had to eat some dirt at 70mph but bonny handled it just fin and the rig saw me just in time or he may have tagged me. . Even when passing safely it pays to always have a escape rout planned. I don’t pass rigs on a narrow bridge. Also I am always looking getting ready for my next accident. Not that it should happen but it will. It’* just a matter of when. I figure if I am ready either I will have enough time to finger the offender as I go down or I will have enough time to escape through my planned escape and beat his head in with my bumper.

My stepfather used to race Formula 4 in England and I have seen him put a VW bug on two wheels around a corner. Yup he made it through the corner. He has never been in an accident that is his fault. My father was not much of a car guy but drove our cars like 4X4'*. Weeeeee. I learned form a school and the teacher for a little cash took me out and showed me how to make my passengers wet their pants. People don’t like to drive with me...I only know one person who ever liked to drive with me. That said with delicate passengers I can perform the way I did to get a perfect score in my driving test.

i am no way as experienced as u guys are, but i would like to think that i have matured alot over the past year. i got my car for xmas 2001 (as well as my license) and i used to be the tipical 17 yr old kid who speeds and takes turns way too fast. after almost hitting a street cleaner doing 55 in a 30 around a corner i kinda smartened up a bit. so far all of my near collisions have been the result of shitty brakes. that little rule of thumb (2 car lengths away for every 10) is definatly at least 3-4 dependingin on weather.
my mom is scared to death to drive with me. first day i had my permit i broght her 99 grand prix up to 80 mph on a back road (lol first time at the wheel...not bad huh ) and just for the hell of it i got to drive it again a month ago while the bonnie was in the shop, i got it up to 105 (no traffic on a strait highway, but SHHH dont tell her about that.)
after all of this i tend to stick to 40 mph +/- 5 depending on my mood and on the highway around 65-70 with light traffic 80-90 no traffic
it makes me sick to look aroudn the parking lot at school... all the kids have cars their parents bought them...all pimped out hondas and crap like that. more parents need to be like mine and say "hey, yr grandfather wants this car out of his driveway take it or leave it, oh yea yr paying for it in full, u brake it u fix it and all the insurance is yr. Driving sux now doesnt it." (they werent happy about me driving
what plastic front end all i c his pure sheet metal

The "plastic' front end is built that way to "absorb" the damage

Most of my learning and accident experience happed when I was younger and busy proving myself. Although I drove like a crazed maniac I did use my head and stuck with cars/trucks that had roll bars. I believe the Bonneville is very much a tank to the newer import and that makes it a great first car. Now that I am older and have learned that it doesn’t matter I am considerably calmer. I think that is the cycle of your average young guy/Person on the road and if given a proper outlet and location to learn to drive in then we would have safer roads. Just a thought.

Ahh, the stories I could tell of my truck driving years!
