Slick 50
It'* on sale at Canadian Tire this week, and I was wondering if anyone believes in the product. I have used it several times in the 90 SSE and as you can tell by the kilometers it doesn't hurt. I change the oil regularly so that might also be a factor. Any thoughts?

I personally haven't tried it.. I think IMO it'* snake oil.. there'* no API approval on it.. which tells me it doesn't meet standards.
Good synthetic oil will suffice.. if you ever go to toronto etobicoke area.. call up Noco.. they sell 4x4L of Esso XD-3 0W-30 for $80 after tax.. thats $20 for 4L of good synthetic.. you won't find that anywhere else.. incidently.. Noco is also the same place they manufacture Mobil 1 in Ontario so for a lil over 2 4Litres of mobil 1 you get 4 4litres of just as good stuff

Esso XD-3 0W-30 , never heard of that brand of Esso, and that grade is a odd number isn't it?

Yea.. it'* a hidden Gem..
0w-30
the 0 is cold start vs. 10W.. which means it'* thinner when cold.. so it helps in winter as the oil gets to all the moving parts quicker.. next time you have 10w-30.. leave it out in the cold over night and pour it.. you will see it'* slower to pour and thicker due to the cold. Cold start is the worse for the engine as the oil hasn't circulated and lubed all the moving parts.. so to me.. I want something that will get flowing quicker. Now it may consume a lil more oil cause due to the thin nature during cold so you may get some pass the piston rings and burnt off during start.
30.. well thats the up to tempreture.. and our cars run on that.. so thats the only difference is the cold start. Walmart sometimes carries Esso XD-3 0w-40 but its a lil too thick @ operating tempreture for my liking and it will affect your MPG.
I always run between half to a quart lower then full top up 4L vs. 4.5L cause IMO less of the rotating crank is slushin thru the oil pan, so creatin less resistance.. but thats just my thing

For any lubricant related question, visit http://www.bobistheoilguy.com and go to the forums. Those guys have forgotten more than most of us will ever know about oil. That said, I'll save you a trip over there, and tell you that it'* junk. With only a couple of exceptions, oil additives are junk. They range from either money wasted and they do nothing, or they're a step back from just good oil and a good filter.

From what I heard it doesn't really work. My parents used in one of their cars I couldn't realy notice any difference. Did not seem to help the wear much the car had almost no compression in clydiner 1,4,8. The ram 250 was retired at 247,000 miles. Had it in that stuff in all it life.
