The idea of anoymous donations is a perfect one as well, however you could donate $1000 or $1 and still would not be recognized for it..thats the way it should be if we go down that path..nothing like "gold donating member" or "platinum donating member" none of that crap.

I like the idea of a donate only option as well, even if it'* limited to the agreed upon $1. As of right now, I can't think of any more merchandise I could justify buying. But, I could slip the occasional $1 donation under the RADAR...

Donations are not an option on the table for a discussion at this time. That is cast in stone at this point.
Let me explain:
Jeff has been reluctant to take donations for 5 years now. He has had in the configuration (for about 4 months now) provision to enable donations but is still reluctant to do so. In spite of the urging of the Admins of the Forum, he will not enable it.
Those are his wishes, and they will be respected. At this time, donations will not be accepted or considered.

I recently bought some BC decals from Andrew. Could I give at least the $2 I would have had to pay if I bought them later? Or is that in the past, and viewed as a donation?
I know it'* only $2 but maybe it'* a loop hole that I could exploit to help out in some way...

Not that this was actually a viable, discussed option, but cheaper servers are definitely NOT the way to go. Saw that above, and just wanted to agree. I remember when we had stability issues, and when one host up and quit one day without warning.
I think the $1 addition is a great idea. Aside from making it $2, or allowing an option for VOLUNTARY open donations, there really is no room to expound on that idea.
The only thing we can do, really, is come up with more stuff that people will want to buy. I'm with John on that. There'* a small amount of things I think it would be neat to have, then that'* about it.
An idea that just popped in my head, which will have to be handled strictly from a local standpoint, is some members from various parts of the States that can afford it to buy 100 mugs or T-shirts, or any of that stuff in bulk, likely several different items, and hold some local recruiting campaigns.
Say, 100 T-Shirts, 100 mugs, 100 keychains, 100 bottle/can jackets, use them as prizes in a Pop-A-Shot game, using a free rental rec area. The event will need to be advertised first.
It'* a big deal that will need some organization and some cash on hand, but there'* a quick $400 per campaign.
Ok, so that might be a bit too expensive at 100 each, could be 25 each at first. But you get the general idea.
