Default REPLY ONLY IF ...... (Sylvania Silverstar problem'*)

..... YOU BOUGHT SYLVANIA SILVERSTARS AND HAD THEM BURN OUT SHORTLY AFTER!!!

Ok, there has been a bit of talk here and there about the poor quality/high cost of Sylvania Silverstar 880 fog light bulbs.
I just bought two not even 4 weeks ago (less than one month) and last week I noticed I have to tap the right side fog lamp assembly for it to turn on. For the left side fog lamp with the SS I noticed on Sunday evening that that one is burnt out -already.
I am thinking we probably have enough people here who have bought SS 880'* and had them go kapuut very soon after. For the price ($18.xx per bulb) I'd think they should be good for at least 2 years. I have had cheesy cheap Eurolight 880'* ($9.99 per pair) last 1-1/2 years and switched them from my 1994 SLE into my `99 SSEi and they were still working like new when I sold the '99.

Anyhow, if you bought SS'* and have a problem please reply like this (copy mine and fill in your info):

Stock lamps? Is there ANY chance that moisture got in there? Did you touch the bulbs with your fingers?

I've never had a SS fail.

I replaced mine in the SS as soon as I got her to Advance Auto from the dealership with the 880'*. They both went within 2 weeks. This was right after they came out.

I've never had a problem with the headlights or the brights. 2 years on the headlights (another Badzilla salvage part) and 1 on the brights.

Yes, stock lamps. I made sure to the enth degree not to touch the bulb during install. And no moisture in there either. I made sure to check for a sure seal when installing the SS'*. The 9006 SS'* are still working as expected.

I went through 3 sets of 880 fog lights and finally gave up. The best mine lasted was two weeks!

One failed, lasted almost a year, I cant really complain.

I have heard of this happen and Sylvania replaced it for free, within a certain timeframe.

Try the SS 893 bulbs. A little bit brighter and mine seem to last longer. I had a set in my old Bonneville for almost 2 years before I sold it.

Whats the wattage on the 893'*? Hard to imagine a brighter bulb would last longer than the 880'*. Not doubting you...just strange. :?
