Default Replacement Headliner

Hey guys -

Anyone have any recommendations where to find a new replacement headliner for a 92 SSEi with sunroof? The dealers are saying that the part is no longer supplied by GM although I still see the part number every now and then while searching parts sites online, but no luck locating one as of yet. I haven't looked at aftermarket options as I wanted to keep it original parts if I could.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

i'd say go to a junk yard

i've saved myself a lot of money finding miscellaneous parts at junkyards, probably $600 in savings total.

I had to have one put in back when I owned my Jeep cherokee. Went to the local Glass installation shop and they also did fabric. They matched the color, and put a new one in and everything for $150 I think it was. Wasnt a bad price at all considering all the materials AND labor were included, I just had to drop it off and pick it up Was still looking like new the day I sold it...

The other option is an upholstry shop if the cardboard backing is still good.

Yep, thats true. This glass / upholstry shop that did my Jeep replaced the whole thing, cardboard backing and all. He gave me a pretty good deal I thought. $150 is about right for a job like that isnt it ?

Default Today'* update...

Hey guys - thanks for all the info.

Looks like I might get lucky... I called a GM Parts place this morning and they confirmed that GM no longer supplies the part, but also said that it could still be available from existing stock providing you can locate it. They gave me a part number of 25616098 and gave me a phone number to call.

When I called the number and gave her the part number, she said they have 22 in stock at a price of $208.46 each. The price sounds about right, but she was unable to confirm vehicle application - only the part number. I got the impression that this place was not necessarily open to the public, but was more of a dealer resource or something.

Now I just need to confirm that that part number is indeed for a headliner that work in my car, since it doesn't match up with any of the part numbers I have. Although the parts place confirmed that part number for a beige headliner with sunroof opening, I'd hate to fork out $200 and realize once it'* shipped that it won't work.

Will keep you all posted...

Maybe DeathRat can help you out here?? He works for GM in a Part Department??

I'd definetely double check the numbers with a few different sources. Its free, doesnt take that long, and could save you a big headache down the road...

The original P/N 25610974 might change up to this P/N 25616098! I'll check Tuesday when I'm back at work. As to the phoned party it sounds to me they gave you the number for auto vintage. That'* the place that GM sells all their discontinued parts to. I've gotten parts from there myself for customers at work.
So, see if I get this right, you want a headliner in beige for a 92 SSEi w/sunroof (glass) {CF5} right?
