Possibly leaving the Bonneville family.
Thinkin about gettin rid of my Bonnie after talking with the dealer. I own a 98 SLE with 50k on it and took it in to get serviced. The main problem was the trunk release button was broke and it was leaking gas from the lines going from the tank to the external filter. Later that night while taking it to the dealer the starter goes out on it, have it towed to the dealer and left there. Get a call from them today and they tell me this:
I need to replace the upper and lower intake - #1 cylinder filled with antifreeze.
The starter snapped/broke(which I already knew)
Plugs are fouled
Lines need to be replaced(which I already knew)
And they think the switch is bad, not sure yet until they get a switch.
The thing that gets me is only the starter, trunk release switch and the uppper intake manifold are covered underneath warranty. The fuel lines and the lower intake are not.
They want I think around $600(USA) dollars to fix it and replace the plugs. Now im thinking about callin the warranty company and raising all hell bout this . The thing that makes me mad the most is they wont cover something that is a safety issue, but will cover an accessory.Sorry just had to vent.

We have a "Lemon Law" just legislated last year that kicks dealers asses to fix bad problems with cars. you can always vent to gm.com, I have heard alot of favourable things getting done if you vent to the right people.

Well Im waiting for the dealership to call me back and let me know exactly what is wrong with everything and when the car is fixed. From when I talked to them earlier they said that the lower and the upper intake would have to be replaced, so Im guessing that both were cracked. Cuz if I didnt have the warranty all the problems I listed wouldve came out to $1600. I went in with my dad later on once he got off work and they took him more seriously since he is older. I guess they are going to replace everything free of charge. But I am still going to raise hell about not having safety issues covered underneath warranty. They told me since it is the extended warranty that the "bumper to bumper" isnt really what it says.

Hey, I'd really like to know the final diagnosis on the lower intake. I've never heard of one even warping, much less cracking. When you pick up your car, can you ask them if you can see the lower? I'd like to know what the specific failure was on it......and the upper, too for that matter. We might have something new to learn from you on this.

K heres the scoop:
The starter shaft broke because of the #1 cylinder hydrolocking.
The trunk release is replaced($6 for the switch & $194 for labor thought that was high)
The upper intake manifold was cracked
They replaced the lower intake manifold cuz thats what they recommend, otherwise there was nothing wrong with it. they said if I didnt it would happen again later down the road.
The replaced the fuel lines but didnt give a reason why it happened.
After complaining some more all I had to pay was $45 for the fuel lines themselves. Now tomorrow Ill just have to replace the plugs as well as the wires while I doin work to the plugs.
