It is a serious bummer... I remember back when my brother let me have his old 92 ssei for several months. I fell in love with the bonny ssei and went and got my own 2K which I still proudly own.

It isn't the sales totals they looked at in making the decision. It was what the cost was vs sales price. Pontiac has been below the break even point for many years. Also those are US figures. Buick has quite a niche in global sales, and a an ever increasing presence in China where car sales are expected to balloon. Pontiac has always been equated with sports cars. I think GM figures to offer sports models with Chevy and Buick. The real thing here is they want basic, middle, and luxury brands. To them, Buick fits that middle price better than Pontiac.

I'd love to see a modern version of the Grand National, or the original "X" the GNX. Buick took a 3800 in '87, pulled almost 300 HP out of it @ 15 Lbs. of boost. (they said that the rated was well below the actual because of corporate policy) GNX ran 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. 13.3 in the 1/4 mile with no mods. I remember it beating out new Corvette'* in a Car and Driver article.
