Unhappy Please help my bonneville!!!

So this morning I was pulling into a parking spot and my steering wheel locked up and my car stalled and wouldn't restart. I had enough momentum to glide into the parking space though. I tried restarting, but would only sound like it wanted to turn over. (2 months ago had to replace the fuel pump, so i was trying to figure out if that was it). The check engine light is on too. I tried restarting it several times and after 5-6 times it would start but only if I kept reving it, if I stopped it would die. Had to call a tow truck, had him take it home as I can't afford a shop right now. Once he dropped it off, I went out and tried starting it and it started right up???? I'm too scared to drive it anywhere in fear it will happen again as I have 2 very small kids with me all the time and my husband is out of town for the next 2 weeks. Any suggestions? My parents are driving 5 hours to come look at it for me in the morning... HELP!!!!

having the engine codes would really help, kinda sounds like ign control module or crk pos sensor

We're going to get that done tomorrow, as I dont trust driving it with my kids in the car. I'll be sure to let everyone know. I'm just so frustrated.

Try unplugging the MAF. The engine will stumble for a bit but should smooth out. Another question, how low is your gas tank? Older cars sometimes stall out when turning sharp corners with a low gas tank.

I'll have to have my dad try that tomorrow when he gets here (I'm not mechanically inclined at all, just hoping for suggestions) hes the one who knows what hes doing. Its got about 1/4 tank of gas in it. It happened as I was pulling into a parking spot a grocery store so it wasn't a real sharp turn. Any other suggestions would be great! I really appreciate this

From what your saying, it doesn't sound like a ignition problem. This seems like a fuel delivery problem. That could be a clogged filter, or a bad fuel pump. You need to have the fuel pressure tested. Looking for about 48psi. It could also be a sensor problem, like a bad MAF. If it was something like a crank sensor it would act different.

I'll put my money on the maf, I had the same problem pulling into my driveway years and years ago in my 97 bonneville sle. I changed the maf and she ran as good as new again
Try cleaning the maf if not change it.
But if you can scan and get us the trouble codes that would help a lot

Ok great. We just replaced the fuel pump about 2 months ago, so I would hope that wouldn't be the problem again? My check engine light is on so when we get it read tomorrow I'm hoping that will lead us in the right direction. I've already checked my gas cap to make sure that was on tight
