They are aware of the gauge problem..that wil be the second faulty sensor. It can't be the dash, cuz its recieving a signal

The first sensor wasn't exactly faulty, it just wore out over time. The second one is truly faulty in the sense that it didn't work right when new. Really you only have one faulty sensor.
It is possible that the instrument panel needs to be rebuilt, but I would try a second replacement sensor first.

Updated info on the saga....
I called Midas to find out how things were going. The vac connection part is on its way. They can't seem to find anything wrong wih the gage, so they are goin to change the coolant temp sensor. He mentioned that the wonky gage may be vac related...I can't see how, but whatever
I also called GM to find out what the damage would be for my cam magnet repair. First they'll do a diagnostic, it may be something as simple as a coil pack or cam position sensor is bad and the ECM can't mix the air/fuel correctly. I don't buy any of it, becuase then it would be a constant problem, not an intermittant problem. Worst case scenario, its the magnet and it has fallen out. They would need to replace the timing cover and chain, both sprockets, the magnet and the cam sensor.
$1400 clams.....so, I dropped $1147 on Friday...big hit for me...the only up side is I got my tax refund finally for $1045, I had to sell some shares to pay off other debts....man, this is racking up

How bout another update on this riveting chain of events.
Vac connection manifold...in place, tranny is fine, no more chunking, coolant sensor and wiring...no problem. Gage it pegs and sticks still....no idea what to do there, oh well.... :?
Total cost...$0.00
Off to GM...cam mag and chain....

They say the human body has replaced itself ever 7 years well I figure its the same with the car. I have done the never-ending repair before. The only way to handle the pain is to go look at the cost of a new car. Even a Aztek costs over 20.000.00..that kind of money will get your car lowered new paint and at least in the 12'*.

Thank you for the sanity check Ty....
For the money that I could afford to spend on a new car right now, the cost of repairs doesn't even come close to it. Besides, not to many new cars that I can afford have the kind of ride, feel and performance of my old school baby.
The bright side is.....once that timing thing is fixed...I'll be faster then....Jr...oh ya....good times
