OLDER MODEL GTP (1996) questions
Anyone here own a 91-96 GTP? Or anyone with any knowledge / experience with these?
Does their 3.4L 24V DOHC produce much horsepower and torque?
How reliable and moddable are they?
Could a swap be down with a 3.8L SC with all components for 3.8 (alt., pumps, etc..) and the tranny??
Any information or comments about the 3.4L DOHC, or the car itself (performance, handling, ride comfort, noise levels, sound system) are appreciated.
Thanks

3400 SFI 3.4 engine
215hp
235 tq?
I will get back to you on torque.
My grandfather had the older 2.8 standard 88 GP. The hp on it really sucked. It had the computerized speedo and gas hand, the metric and english switch and a combo lock dash board. Only thing that really made me laugh was the 2 tape holders by the radio. The newer GP'* we nice with the reading lights in the side rear panels and more wider ground effects. Ahhhh the memories of your first car you ever drove.

Hey they aren't as unreliable as you may think. I have just under 100K on my 94 right now. The main problems are the POS 4T60E that they bolted up to it.and alternators since they put it in the dumbest place possible.
Also there is one in the 88-96 section of ClubGP with over 200K on his.
Power rating was 210 HP and 215 TQ 91-95 96-97 it made 215 HP and 215 TQ ithink. I can't remember the torque number right now. But yes they aren't a low end monster but they do love the 4000-7000 rpm range.
Yes you can swap in a L67 if you so choose.
