Default Oil drain plug size?

What is the thread size of our oil drain plugs? My oil pan had it'* drain hole striped out quite a while ago. It leaks, obviously. My last trip to a quick lube they put some orange stuff that hardened on it to stop it from leaking. I changed my oil last, and put some gasket maker on there, but I couldn't get the bolt tight without it jumping thread. So I need to rethread the hole. I am planning on using a thread-forming screw that is one size bigger than the old plug. If that fails to work, I'll swap the oil pan from my parts car, but that'* a pain in the ***.

I know the stock hole uses the Fram SD-1 for the sure drain system. I can't correspond this to a thread size ATM though, maybe someone else can, or if you're there you can check it out.

Maybe step up to the SD-2 or something, so you you have nothing to strip out again.

You understood right. I didn't know what oversized meant, if it was thread or hex head or length or what.

or... you could just buy a new oil pan *gasps*

it would give you the chance to replace the oil pan gasket, that'* likely leaking right now anyway...
