walmart service = evil, get off your *** and do it yourself, thats what i do, and my bonneville dosent leak one drop or use one drop of the earl , i always check the oil level to be sure but once i add oil at the change time, i never have to add more and it stays right at the full line, its nice to have a car u dont have to worry about (i had a 97 mitsu mirage that i learned the hard way was burning oil like a bitch big time, i drove it for 3 days after i started driving it, it was my moms old car, and was wondering why the oil light was staying on for like 15+secs after startup and when i pulled in the driveway it was flickering, looked at the dipstick, it was bone dry, no oil on the dipstick whatsoever, thats a memory ill never forget ) moral of this story children, change your own oil. in alot of cases its cheaper, faster, and easier to do it yourself. AND CHECK YOUR DAMN OIL LEVEL (and those of u idoits with newer bonnevilles that ignore the check oil level warning on the DIC _U KNOW WHO U ARE_ need to be shot, i know a mechanic that got one off a girl for free cuz she ignored the warning and locked up the engine, he dropped a brand new one in it for 1500 and it runs like a dream, an d the body is in excellent condition, not one mark outside, just a few cracks in the drivers seat leather)

Well like I mentioned in my post, I did change my own oil and had to use channel locks to unscrew my drain plug. It took almost five quarts to fill. For those of you that do it yourself, how many quarts does your car take to bring the level to the full?
Now this afternoon I'd like to put the car back on the ramps and check that drain plug again. Using the channel locks I want to make sure it'* tight.

My 99 takes 4.5 quarts. My 93 used to take 5 quarts. It must have had a slightly deeper pan.

I would change the stripped drain plug ASAP. Stop by your local AutoZone and pick up a fresh one. They're only a couple bucks. Make sure they give you a fresh nylon washer, too.

I always buy the 5 quart jugs and use the whole thing. Never had a problem with that on my 98. Puts it right at the full mark. Maybe just a fraction above, but not enough to scare me.

And the big jugs (big jugs!! teehee) are great for recycling the old stuff.

4 3/4'ish.....try starting your car after putting in 4.5 qts and see if you have to add more once you shut the car off....getting the oil to move around in the engine....I do all my own fluid changes. in fact its almost time to do my oil and tranny. filter size does matter also.

$1.78 at NAPA...FYI. And the nylon washer was in the box with it.

Same here.

Heck, my manual says 4 quarts + up to one more with a filter change. So I dump it all in and it is at full.

This is why I do not ever take any vehicles to a quick lube shop were a 16 yr old is doing the work. N00BS. Id rather have oil thats been in my engine for 10k miles than go to one of these scheisters.
