New family member!
Well as some have read in another post in the lounge section http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=48872
I was in Toronto to look at another car to replace mine. Actually found it here http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=47636 .
Well Jim W and his GF picked us up at the hotel around 8:30am. We drove over, had a look at the car. First impressions, well it was in an underground parking but still looked pretty good. I was handed the keys and of course wanted to hear it. First thing I noticed is the security light flashing while the car is off. I never seen that on my SSE, then again the bulb could have been burnt. It did not have any keyless remote, not sure if it was supposed to).
I started the car, and it fired right up, no hesitation at all. First thing I noticed is that it was pretty damn quiet, 2 reasons, for one it has a regular muffler ( needs a magnaflow), and then I opened the hood and I heard a nice quiet engine. No ticking, no knocking, sounded great.
I let it run for a few minutes while we had an overall look at the car, inside and out. I brought my video camera ( purchased from JimmyFloyd) and had a look under the car with it ( instead of trying to crawl under it). Looked pretty solid, especially compared to ours. the exterior does need some TLC, but that will be addressed. One rear door does not open but I know the fix for that. The compass looked kinda dim ( compared to mine) and the DIC was not functioning properly. I figure I can use mine to replace it.
I could have just jumped in and drove away, but it was not insured to be on the road, so no test drive either.
Now the problem, trying to get it home. My insurance company wants a certification ( law in Ontario), but you have to get it to a garage to do this and I personally do not trust any garage, and the seller also said not to do it in Toronto. So without a certification I cannot get a trip permit ( 10-15 day permit to get it transfered to your name). My insurance company had suggested that I get the seller to keep insurance on it since I have a policy that covers any car that I drive as long as it has insurance.
The seller agreed tonight to call his company and get insurance long enough for me to drive it home. I will find out later this week if he is able to get insurance for Friday and I can drive back down ( another 5 hour trip) and pick up the car. I was looking at maybe towing it back home to avoid all the insurance problems, BUT I would have to rent a vehicle and trailer and it would end up costing me about 500$ for that. A towing company, well forget that looking at about the same cost as the vehicle itself.
I am hoping the seller will be able to get insurance, and if so, then a new member gets to come home this weekend.

Well first things first, get anything fixed that needs it. Then a magnaflow exhaust, and of course the SSEi tips. I am not sure how long I can go without the magnaflow on it. I may wait till spring, BUT if Renee wants it on sooner then I may have to just do that. If the one on the white car is still in good shape, I may just have that one put on for now.
The SSEi tips are actually installed pretty easily. Not sure if you remember but, they are simply clamped on with muffler clamps and a couple extra nuts, directly onto the exhaust pipes coming out, so they move with the muffler, lol.

Honestly, I hated those body styles but god darn it, that gray one looks so good, just imagine if it had beautiful gray paint and better rims. :P Those body styles are starting to grow on me. I really hope you get it, what you're going to name it? Pat named his "White HOT", other does too, I named my "Big Bertha"

Well when the first car was purchased we both loved it, I remember it when it first came out when I was in high school and was in love from day one. She paid for it but it was under my name ( for insurance). Once we moved back home she needed a car to get to work with, so we dumped $$$ into it to put it on the road.
Anytime I drove it, something went wrong, like the cam sensor, and the harmonic balancer, then there was the fuel pump on the first trip to Toronto, then the engine blew on the second trip to Toronto. Funny part about the engine blowing is that she drove the car for the first 2 hours, and about an hour after I got behind the wheel, there goes the engine.
So this new car is to replace her white one. We would both like to just park the car, rebuild it and keep it forever, but she needs a car to drive and that is what she will do.
Once we have the car in our possession and it is on the road, then I will leave it up to BC to come up with names. Some how I doubt she will let me touch this one, lol. I was planning on being the one driving it back from Toronto, but in a way I don't want anything to blow up on it, hehe.
