Warming up right now, was out getting things ready for him to do more. Got HB off and timing chain cover loosened, He just needs to remove the bolts and the cover comes off. Then I broke the head bolts loose, so we may remove those as well.

Will you be pulling the shortblock down further or are you keeping it as a spare? I forget if the crank and bearings are good in this engine?

Ahhhh I didn't realize it had a knock. Can't fix it easily then. And a great project to aquaint yourself more with the internals of the 3800.

That was part of the plan. Get a feel for those areas, acquire all the spare parts I will ever need, and find a project that I can do with my son. I wanted a running engine, but this works out well.

Made up a new set of valve covers. I filled in the groves, I like the smooth look. I have a few small spots on the front cover that needs to be taken care of.
