Decided to add a drain plug on my trans pan to make it much easier to drain the trans fluid.

My only concern is will this be sticking down to far? Will have to get under there and check it out. If so, I might weld a bar in front of it as a deflector.

I think you'll be okay. If anything, I would strengthen the pan on the inside with a solid plate and then when you hit a hard hatted Raccoon or whatever, the pan wont stretch.
