Killed by Off road Monster trucks.
Was out for a Boxing Day cruise with my family. We were headed up the mountains to play in a little snow. The main logging road that is just a few miles south of town can be used by the general public whenever the logging trucks aren't working.
Heading south along the main highway 101, five jacked up big tired trucks turned onto the road up ahead of us. I knew that they too were headed for the playgrounds.
Now, the logging roads are not patroled at all by any form of law enforcement so you can travel at any reasonable speed....at your own risk. The main road, before the many branch roads that get you up the many mountains, is like a highway. You can reasonably do 50 mph and their aren't too many pot holes or wash board zones.
So anyhow, before we turned onto the main logging road, I downshifted and hung in close to the last truck in the convoy. They were clipping along pretty good, I thought, doing about 70 mph along the twisty paved coastal highway (50 mph limit).
I never got a chance to even try a pass, it would have been tough with 5 of them.
Then we turned onto the main logging road.
Holy ****. Then the trucks really opened it up. They nailed it. I could see then slew with all four wheels spinning.
I nailed it and kept it to the floor for what seemed like forever. The trees were beginning to blur.
I was doing 80 mph barely hanging in there with the whole family hanging on and my wife said her eyes were closed most of the time.
Four wheel drifting around corners at highway speeds.
What a rush.
.......and the trucks were pulling away. :(
Oh, I forgot to say that the roads are one way so you don't have to be wary of drivers coming the other way......you can use the whole road for drifting.
We had a great day, played in the snow and on the road.
NO..of course I wasn't driving the Bonne, it was my Jeep Cherokee. I don't drive my Pontiac'* on the dirt roads.

I just couldn't believe how fast those big ol trucks were going. I was impressed.
