I'd never trust RTV. The area around the coolant ports is very small. I won't risk coolant loss. I'd rather make my own gasket if it were necessary.

You could block of the coolant ports.

For a daily driver, you're better off with the coolant flow.

No issues up here in Canada Eh....
I can buy these through my purchasing department at work.
Maybe I'll phone and see how many are stocked

Try a TB gasket from a mid-90'* 454. According the wrapper of the last 4 or 5 I've bought, it'* the same.

Well Wren, glad you could find it, seeing as its coming from here, lol. Gaskets are a strange item sometimes. Anytime I've needed something like that, they're either never in-stock or hard to come by it seems. My dad needed one for his 99 Grand Prix and couldn't get a hold of one easily, so he just got a sheet of gasket material and made his own.

When cleaning the TB on the white car, myself and firebuick went to the local autozone to get a tb gasket and they had no clue what it was and none in the computer but said they could try and order it. I also called my local advaned auto and they dontcarry them and said that they didnt know of anyone who stocked them. I reused mine and it looked good and isnt leaking. I dunno

Thanks for the heads up will. I was planning on cleaning my throttle body when/if i install a rice pipe this spring or summer. I'm gonna have to go find one this week. Nothing sux more than waiting for the last part you ordered to come in for 2 weeks because it'* hard to find or can't be found at all!

i'm usually able to stop myself from being stupid....but i'm gonna fail here.
I would say that'* it'* shocking to see GM make such an odd call on a part like this, but i know better. I have gone to the parts department of the local dealership (which is now closed) a few times and have seen brand new 3800 engine blocks in there black plastic container on a pallet waiting to be installed to replace destroyed blocks from failed UIM/LIM. And worse....at the owners expense.

But i guess it'* more of a corporation thing. it hard for inanimate objects to "feel" for example guilt. :P
