Never done that! I think the reason that motor looks weird to you is because it'* 60* not 90*.

Nah..the degree isn't the issue. The offset of the cylinders is what gets me going. One cylinder sticking further forward than the one on the other side. The different length pushrods.
The 60'* should have been overhead cam motors IMO. And GM should have gotten rid of the friggin distributor plug before they made the one you have. WTF they haven't had a distributor for 15 years or more. It'* like they started to take our ancient design 3800 pushrod motor and ....considered updating it, then stopped mid way.

and there were 60* OHC(LQ1) motors made in the past, and around ~2003, they came back(GM HF V6).
also, i take offense to calling the 60V6 engine an updated 3800.
BTW, did i ever mention i tended to participate in the 60V6 vs 90V6 pissing matches that happened on W-body.com?

Haha! Yeah, don't forget Billy boy, they don't make 90** anymore. The 300+hp Camaro V6 is the younger brother of my engine.

Yep, the ones that take 14+ PSI of boost all day long, for 200k+ miles.
Sorry, we have been boosting 3800'* for how long here, and how much boost are we actually giving them? Sure the heads flow like ****, but the engines as a whole take the abuse reliably (provided supporting mods are considered) and they don't blow head gaskets left and right. Actually, a blown 3800 head gasket is pretty rare even on boosted motors.
I'll take a 3800 over a 60*V6 any day of the week. There'* a reason it has been the most massively produced engine in the US.

14PSI with poor flowing heads doesn't mean a whole lot of air (therefore power), is being produced.
look at the 3900s for example, those beasts make 240/240 without any kind of forced induction.

NO pissing matches! I'm sure that you realize that my headgasket blew because of a lean condition causing pre-ignition right? Not because it couldn't handle the boost.
