How do I take apart my center console?
#12
I know this is an old thread, but I felt compelled to add to it rather than start a new thread for context.
Nowhere did I see two torx screws under the ashtray insert, nor did my center console piece flip back toward the armrest/CD holder). Once the shifter **** came off, it was nearly impossible to remove the front two 10mm nuts at the front of the shifter, but I got them. With the center console unit not able to be removed, I had to find the wire and bulb housing and remove it blindly - not that difficult, but the unit as a whole was much easier to remove than reassemble. If there is a way to remove the center console piece that covers the shifter, please add
Cheers.

The reason you most likely had an issue is because the instructions given are for a 92-99 model and yours is a totally different design. The console can and does comes out in your year, I am unsure how though.
1993 SLE will likely know this off the top of his head.

I know this is old....but I am trying to take the console (storage bin) out of my 99 Bonneville. I got the front part of it undone and lifted up but can't get the rest of it out. The lid is off too. Is this the instructions to get that out? Do I have to start all the way up at the ashtray to do it??
If someone can provide pics it would help as I am better at visual things than reading. I can supply pics too if needed.
Thank you.
