I am putting a 1995-98 Bonneville cloth bench in a 1985 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck and though I am a little apprehensive to installing seat heaters after my mom had problems with the ones in her Avalanche (she thought they were just on when she took a trip...She later found out that the seats were actually smoldering!) but hell, if I am adding any option i can to my truck, why not heated seats even though they would be used about 2 hours a year total?

They are good for more than just warming your back and butt. Great if you have back aches, etc.
Here in the North East, they get used quite often. The ones that are installed in the car turn off after a certain amount of time (timer).
