Hey Sam,
I have flushed the transmission on my 05 SLE at right around 80,000 miles. As far as I know, the tranny had never been flushed so I went ahead and flushed it myself. The fluid came out a little dirty but still showing a redish color. Once the pan was off, replaced the filter and cleaned the pan out real good, and reinstalled. Refilled the system with DEX IV ( i think..i remember researching to make sure i had the right fluid) tranny fluid and the car has never shifted so well.
I now this isnt a complete "flush" but i still exchanged about 4-5 quarts of fluid with new, fresh fluid. In your case, with only 65,000 miles, i wouldnt expect you to have any issues, I actually bet you would notice a better shifting car...maybe its just in my head...
On the other side...a really high mileage (Usually if the trans fluid is BLACK in color) car may have issues after having the tranny flushed. Reason being, all the parts are extensively warn and the metal flakes in the fluid are actually helping take up some tolerance between parts. Once flushed, the tolerance is increased and the parts start slipping across the surfaces...This was the case on my brothers escort when flushed at 160,000 miles...
Hope this helps!

I just did mine this weekend. Dropped the trans pan, cleaned the magnet off, changed the filter, and filled it back up.
The way I see it if you do this often enough there should be no need for a flush. Some people do it once a year which is probably overkill, but better safe then sorry?

The GXP has two points to drain. Please remember the differences in drivetrains here as far as advice goes. These are 4T80'*. No real familiar myself with the draining, sorry, but I do know their are two points to drain. Me? I'll wait for recommended mileage and let the Dealer Deal with it. I hate crawling under for the oil and fog lights.

Not sure if this is similar but with the GTP/GT transmissions we are told not to flush them as many people have had bad experiences. Replacing some of the fluid and filter is said to be the best way to go about it.

thanks for the reply people
I'm gonna ask the dealer and see what they say, but most likely I'm doing just the oil and filter change.
DEATHWISH99, my brother with his 06 GT */C lost his tranny after a flush, so I'm kinda worried about mine lol

Dealers are getting outrageous. A daughter in Cincinnati just had the alternator go out of her Audi A4 fresh out of warranty. An idiot came out with a white lab coat and a clipboard from the Service floor area and told her rebuilt is not available and $900 parts and labor for new.

Not to steal the thread, but RockAuto lists a 2008 A4 alternator from $180-$245. I would guess dealer cost for OEM in that range. So markup on the part and labor charges of over $600. Wow.....
