Got beat by and early 90'* Thunderbird V8...
We went to a little 1/8 mile strip. On "GO!" we both took off. Off the line we were dead even, then about 35-40 mph he started to pull away. By the end of the 1/8, I was right even with his rear bumper. He said that he opened up the exhaust ,got a new chip, and has some smaller pulleys. (Pulleys for what, I don't know...) I told him that I wanted to try again when I got my chip and a smaller pulley. He said he sure... Can't wait...

That T-Bird must have been running with the 5.0 liter V8. Tough to beat the torque of a V8 engine but I think that if you install a smaller pulley and chip mods....ala Will'* green machine....you should have no problem kickin his *** the next time.

What made it frustrating for me is that he had one of those huge aftermarket aluminum big @$$ spoilers on the back, and a non-functioning tiny hood scoop fastened precariously with drywall screws...
It didn't make my day...

I noticed after I raced last night, I got a code 43. I think I may have gotten closer, if not beat him, if I wasn't running 240 degrees, and a quart low on tranny fluid. That thing is leaking faster and faster. Need to get it fixed... :?

When he said smaller pulley, he probably meant for his supercharger (ford uses centrifugal superchargers back then i'm almost certain), so he most probably has the 3.8L centrifugally supercharged V6. I think the V8 T-birds look to plain because unlike GM, ford doesn't offer all the options that the higher models of their cars. Sort of how GM offered a supercharged engine in SE'* back in the day.. Ford doesn't do that so only the Super Coupe has the nice styling and ground effects. You should take a look and see if his car says Super Coupe anywhere, then you'll know for sure if he had a Supercharged V6 or the 5.0 V8... Either way, nice car..
