Default GM rebuild identifier?

I'm looking at a replacement 440-T4 trans in the local junkyard, it has a GM reman sticker on the side cover but I can't see the fine print (dirty and out of reach). The fluid in it is it marischino red, like it just came out of the bottle. There is a bit of a stain on the edge near the block, but that could be a valve cover leak or something.

I'm wondering, did GM mark the rebuild date on these? Or if it was GM would a dealership be able to tell date and/or mileage when it was replaced?

I looked around the car, but couldn't find any paperwork.

Run the VIN on carfax, you might get a hit on a report about a serious repair like that.

Carfax didn't show any repairs, just sales and emission results

I bought it anyway, $250 was a good price, we will see what the tranny shop finds
