Just a comment from an old piston-head, those winged wonders you refer to, The Plymouth SuperBird and the Dodge Daytona where designed to be raced at Daytona as they had to be of stock variety and availalble to the general public in order to be classed as "stock cars" they were built in limited supply. My buddy had a SuperBird in High school with a hemi and was fast for a big lead sled! :o
As for RWD and FWD ........doing donuts in parking lots!! try and DO IT with a FWD!!....ahhh the old days~~~~~~~~~~~~had a 1971 Olds 442 rag-top 455ci 425 hp 1/4 race cam, balanced and blueprinted....blew vapour rings out the flanged exhaust tips!! in the winter

RWD is just better , I feel it'* more reliable and handles alot better ! As far as the snow, it takes a little more skill . I don't mind using my brain for driving . And Tamara , REVERSE does not work! Let'* face it guys FWD was made for the people who couldn't handle RWD ! It just so happens that Bonnevilles are FWD. I've been driving since I was 15 and I am now 20 . Now I'm sure some old heads are saying " I have spark plugs older than that " But they are NEW YORK CITY years! And I would rather have RWD in the city than FWD

I think we can help each other out then. I'll trade you your car for my 1989 RWD Dodge cargo van. Been wanting to get rid of it anyway.
Oh, BTW, I'll take FWD in the bad weather ANY day over RWD, or out drive you with either. I'm just practical about my choices. If you don't like FWD, get a different car!

FLAME WAR ALERT! FLAME WAR ALERT!
Lets try to remember that we all have an opinion here. We will never change someone elses opinion, but that is okay. I happen to prefer RWD, but there are plenty of very nice, very capable FWD cars as well--I happen to own one, the Bonneville! This is a Poll--not the world series. Lets cool our exhausts and enjoy the company of other car enthusiasts that own Bonnies.
I say to each his/her own. Have fun modding them and sharing experiences.

I already have 2 RWD cars and the bonnie is the first FWD car that I have ever driven . I'm not saying the car sucks but lets face it . If I started a poll on what people would prefer (FWD or RWD bonnie ) who do you think would win! Hey will wouldn't you like a RWD Bonnie ?

I think all cars should be fwd and be electric too. LOL my personal short opinion is fwd was never made for performance it was originally created to save the production line money. So unless the gm carmakers make high performance fwd units the system will never get a real chance to show its prowess. I mean when the new gm image of more hp starts coming out they are not building better high performance fwd units they are building rwd units. So that said the rwd is our only option once we get into serious hp numbers like 5-6-1000 hp. There are hand built exceptions but so far the fwd gm car is basically limited to the 450hp range. Well maybe 600 with a 4t80-e and 4.6l but that is not a normal option.
So for that reason alone if you want big hp then rwd is what we are forced to use.

Hey, guys. No flames intended. Don't take it the wrong way. IF I had another bonneville, and the money to put into it, yes it would be fun to put a v8, rwd, manual, and a hand brake in it? Practical, no. If I had a choice between the two, I'd have to stay fwd. Look where I live.
