Fram Oil Filters?
I bought a Fram oil filter, and it has Teflon in it, and it says it'* suposed to filter better than stock ones. Has anyone used them, and are they any good with Teflon in it. I just thought I would get a couple of opions. TY

Don't put Teflon in your engine.
Here'* a good comparison of oil filters:

Most Fram filters are junk. The ones with Teflon aren't too bad, but you're better off with an AC Delco or Wix.

i should have mentioned that fram was junk earlier
i ran a fram filter for about 6mo
it never seemed to clean the oil, every time i changed the oil it was molasses
did two oil changes @ 2500 mi. like that
put a wix filter on and pulled out barely dirty oil at the next change
i wouldnt put teflon in my engine, GM didnt design for it, it doesnt need to be in there

Most filters are very simular. What makes the REAL difference is your change intervals! The only filters that are best are the ones made by Amsoil, K&N & other companies like them, that make them with a smaller micron rating for their synthetic oils. Fram are good as long as you change your oil regularly. I personally use GM'* 729856 (AC Delco PF47C). I used to used Kralinator as their outer shell was thicker than any other filter I found. All this info is based from my Mr Lube days where I worked as a Supervisor/Manager.

I had the same opinion about Fram - my Dad always used them when I was growing up, I followed suit. They used to be high quality. Apparently, that changed when they got aquired by Allied-Signal.
My Dad finally changed when the guy he buys his parts from stopped carrying them. He said that he had started seeing more than a few failures, and found that they changed the construction of their filters. They dropped Fram and started carrying Wix.

I used to use Mobil 1 filters, but then the K-Mart closed so I needed to find a new filter to go with. There'* no stores in town that carry higher quality filters so I changed back to AC Delco. Oil filters are oil filters. They are all pretty much standard.

Clearance is not a problem.

Is it bad that my oil is fairly black after 1000 miles with a Mobil 1 filter? This was right after I had a leak, was down to two quarts, diluted with 3 fresh quarts, dumped it, replaced some gaskets, put in 2 fresh quarts, then 3 of dumped fresh/used, and it is still pretty dark.
