Found SSEi, but sold when I got there!!
Man I was so upset! I found a 97 SSEi in Ocala, Fl (I live in Daytona, about an hours drive there) on Autotrader. Talked to the guy, said that he just got it in, and I told him I would make the trip the next day to look and probably buy it. The day I went, I called him twice to let him know that I was comming and if the car was still availiable, and both times he said it was. When me and my girlie got there, it had a SOLD sign on it, so we thought he did that to hold the car for us. WRONG!! He tried putting us in a Jeep, and I was like "Look, I wanted that Bonnie. YOU said it was available TWICE today. Now thanks to that little trick I am out 2 hours and half a tank of gas" Needless to say I am still livid about the whole thing, nice SSEi too...had the champagne paint, 70k miles on it, all mint. Oh well.

I SO FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!
i also saw a 96ssei, black, loaded on autotrader, or something like that, to pissed to remember...anyways, it was in kansas, im in minnesota. my dad and i both took off work for the weekend, and planned a trip down there. the guy selling it was selling it personally on a used car lot, so he said he would put it inthe corner and mark it sold. my dad got a money order (yes money order) for $4000. we headed early morning and got there that evening right before they closed. we couldnt find the car. went inside asking about it, nobody even knew about it! they dealership said it might be at another lot, so they called...nothing!! i was getting extrememly pissed right now, and my dad was just sitting inthe corner, kinda pissed at me for briging him, and at the dealership. so it turns out the car was sold the day before without the owner even knowing, the lot jsut sold it, and for cheaper!!! GRRR we had to drive all the way back to minnesota empty handed and extremely pissed... there wasnt even anyone to yell at because the owner was out of town. i then decided to buy my car off ebay, so there would be a contract, have never looked back.
anyways good luck with the search, your ride is out there

:( What is it with people, anyway?????
Your story reminds me of when I (tried to by?) bought my car. The guy failed to respond to a DOZEN business cards I left in various places all over the 92 SSEi on his lot. He finally did -- but I had to threaten to drive out of state to buy another SSE/i. I did buy it.... and today it got towed home after the supercharger snout melted and the pulley locked up. Good purchase? I don't regret it -- especially since I got a really good deal on a replacement blower....

Man that really sucks.... for both of you.....
I was really lucky in my trip to T.O. for the 97... everything worked out perfectly when so many things could have gone wrong....

I never knew whether the "gazumper" was the seller, who broke his promise to the original purchaser to wait until the buyer arrived, or the guy who showed up unannounced and waved extra cash at the seller to break his promise. Anyway, I like the sound of that word...
