"Fixed" my airbox (question)
well my intake was looking pretty ghetto, mostly cause it was held together with duct tape, i decided to make it less ghetto looking, but i didnt wanna spend any money, so i gutted the stock air box and cut off a good portion of the front half so my intake could fit in it (cant see that once its installed), now it looks stock but the cone intake is inside, i would take a pic, but it'll just look stock

but then i wonder, is a clean looking intake better than an ugly one that was designed for maximum efficiency? i mean, aside from the itnake my car is basicly stock so even without a special airbox the cone filter is still delivering more than enough airflow right?

I prefer a little bit of asthetics over functionality. For example I would never use a setup like 1993SLE'*, as I think as it looks ugly as sin. I guess you just have to decide if you need every ounce of performance to be gained. Frankly, I doubt the difference is noticable on all but the hottest days.

well my question was would there be a significant or even noticable difference in an otherwise stock car? the intake i made (i still have the parts and could use it at any time) was ugly as sin but i know it worked great, gutting the stock airbox and putting the cone inside im sure it works well enoguh but i doubt as good as a custom airbox, but at the level my car is at would it even matter?

well in stock condition the PCM is upright in a tray, i fabricated a tray so it could lay down and the intake was above it, and then i made a lexan shield that spanned from the radiator to the back of the washer fluid bottle with the exception of a hole for the intake pipe to go thru, then i i covered the lexan sheild with an adhesive aluminum sheet on both sides, and put it in, i seald the edges with duct tape and weather stripping, and made a cover with another lexan sheet given the same treatment and again sealed with ducttape and weather stripping, it basicly looked like that side of the engine compartment was a large duct tape box completely sealed and insulated from engine air
