Exclamation Dumbest...question...ever

Okay, lets get the laughing out of the way first. My Bonny was throwing codes for the EGR valve. Since I was starting to lose coolant/oil in small amounts (no puddles) I decided to go ahead and replace the UIM as well as the LIM gaskets.

Upon completion of the job I went to test it out and check for leaks. No leaks, but no voltage either! Checked out the alternator and found that I had forgotten to reconnect the battery cable to the alternator. OOPS!

Now here is the problem...I CAN'T FIND IT!!! Laugh if you must! Get it all out! lol
I have searched and searched (both the forums as well as under the hood) and I cannot find the darned thing! Can anyone tell me where the heck to look?

Please be gentle, I feel BEYOND dumb right now as is!

It'* in the loom of the wiring harness in that general area behind the alternator/by the fuel injector.

Thanks for the fast reply Bill. I must have explained what I was looking for wrong. It'* not the plug connector that I'm looking for, but the wire that goes on the stud on the back of the alternator. I looked all over that loom and could not find it. I assume you were referring to the plug connector?

It'* not a real long pig tail, so like Bill said, follow the main harness. It likes to fall down by the #2 injectors and slide under the alt.

Ahh, OK, the battery to alt wire? Start at the battery, one goes to the starter, the other goes to the alt. Just follow it from there.

Thanks for the response Dan. Not sure if you read my second post (I think I asked for the wrong thing at first.) Trying to find the connector that goes to the stud on the back of the alternator, not the plug connector. Forgive me if that is also in the same loom.

By the way, Dan and Bill, I can't even BEGIN to tell you two how much I have learned from the both of you while reading the forums. You guys are amazing!

I was kinda waiting for Dan not to notice you were an 00

Seriously..it'* right where I said and yes..I knew which one you are looking for. Trust me on this. It'* sitting right there on the rear valve cover.

Ok fellas, I'm runnin out to check again. Be back in a few. I also removed the alternator again (primarily to get the brace out of the way) to be be able to see a little better. Last time I went out I was actually laying on the engine looking all over the rear valve cover as well as feeling all around and behind it just in case it fell down behind. Headed out to look again!

Look on the fire wall a bit down on the passenger side. You will find where the battery cables come threw, then follow them.
