also this is the 3.1 right? why would you have to remove the head to get to the lifters?

also if you buy stuff from advance even if you want to pick it up in the store you can buy it online enter P20 in the box and save 20%

I tried that right when I got the car because it need an oil change when I bought it but I may try it again because I had a really bad oil leak so I am betting the SeaFoam really didn't get the chance to do its job. It was leaking a half quart of oil every few days out of a broken oil pressure switch.

Yes it is the 3.1 V6. A good friend of mine brought it up on AllData and it said the heads had to come off to remove the valley pan that it above the lifters. So I am guessing that if you don't pull the heads you can get the valley pan out of the way to replace the lifters. He also told me that the push rods go through the heads and that is another reason why they half to come off, along with that the valley pan extends under the heads or something like that.

Honestly, dump a bottle of Lucas in it next oil change and see what happens, I'd just keep on driving it if it was my car.

dont pay attention to those nonsense books, havent specifically done a 3100 but ive done others it doesnt make sense to have a pan go under the head bolts. there is a upper, , lower, and you always have to take the valve covers off to take the pushrods out. the ones that have a tray bolt in inside the engine

I say the same by looking at a few pics of a few remaned engines. I have discussed it with my parents and I am going to next year when I get my return back, I will be replacing the lifters in the car. I would do it the year but I have to much on my going on money wise so I have no free money to put towards the repairs this year. I am still needing to replace the rear tires and maybe also putting rear brakes on it but I will be checking them again in a few more months, they were a little on the low side the shoes in the rear was.

I am about to hit the time to change my oil so I am gonna increase my oil from a 10W 30 to a 10W 40 and add an oil additive to it and see where that gets me.

I always use the Castrol Brand of Oil with a Fram Extra guard oil filter.
