why does my gt have a "performance shift" light when a- my car'* not a manual, b- i dont have the performance shift option, and c- my car'* not a gtp? how can i tell? it was really sunny the one day a long time ago while i was on my break at work, and the sun was beaming my dash and the little slot said "perf shift." i was like "huh??????????"

Because it'* not profitable for GM to make a different DIC for differently optioned cars.

ive seen 2 different info centers though. the gtp has the boost monitor and the gt/se both have the door open thing with the arial view of the car. thats why i thought id ask cause i had no idea. unless there ARE gp'* out there WITH the performance shift option, i dunno...............

preformance shift has to do with how the automatic transmission shifts itself. Jon is right it is cheep to make a base and add some special stuff later. You'll see on many cars that had manuals on the dash on outline for the shirt up light,

Do ya want perf shift Fab.. you know I know how to make that happen.

Then the programming can be modified to have two modes of driving, normal and performance. If you change the tables decently then you'd notice the difference.

Most of the cars that have this..the tables are so close to one another that it'* tough to notice the difference.

its not that i dont need it unless im going to have the gears to back it up and thats money that i dont have right there. i wouldnt doubt it one bit that you know how to do that. you already blew me away with all the knowledge.

There'* one wire to run to a switch and the other side is ground. Then you have perf/nomral selecting.

i dont have the button on my shifter to activate the performance shift mode. or it doesnt matter?
