I work for insurance company. Our rule of thumb is that if the crack is more than 6" it has to be replaced. I have seen them repair cracks that practically disappeared. If the crack is in the drivers line of vision it needs to be replaced. Where I live you get a lot of gravel from the roadway and causing chips. I get the chips fixed asap and they don't cost me a thing. If I have to have the windshield replaced then my deductible comes in to play- that is why I carry a zero deductible.

I carry a low deductible for glass. I get a new windshield at least every 2 years.
Our first big windshield problem was in Oregon. Taking the transport minivan (woo hoo pontiac) to sell to my uncle in portland (who works for HP wren). Going over the pass on the freeway from Idaho, got a nice big crack in the cold weather up on top. It just spread when we came down into the valley.... The day before we sold the car of course!

I have free glass on my car, but a big comprehensive deductable.

I have free glass too. But I'm glad I haven't had to use that though. I'm surprised I haven't gotten chips at the usual speed I drive Good luck on your windshield Miami!

I hate those cell phone antennas. Especially the fake ones you can buy for your car. I hope I don't get a broken window after I tint my glass this summer.
