CAUTION - Gruesome pictures
Finally got the engine and trans out last night. Dumped three cans of engine cleaner on the engine and the bay. Next step, drop the tranny and see what happened to it.
If your curious, that is a homebrew engine hoist. I used 6ft 4X4'* along with a couple of 2X4'* for support. The hoist itself is a boat trailer winch. Total cost, about $65. The engine came out last night and has since been hanging. Good load test huh?

I am fearful of your engine hoist.
You may want to rent a normal hoist for reinstall so you can position better when you drop back in.
Keep up the good work.

How did you, without wheels on your hoist pull out the engine to in front of the car? I wonder how much our engines weigh... I remember dropping a 800lb iron inline 6 11.7 Litre displacement block... I've been real touchy about lifting since haha

EDIT:
I did have in my plans while building the hoist to install casters on it, but due to budget limitations at this time, I was unable to get them. Expensive little bastards. For the weight anyway.
