Car company affiliations?
theres so much mergers, takeovers, and joint projects its hard to keep track of which car companies are affiliated with which, ive got a list of what i know and if anyone has anything idont then add to it:
GM: (i believe was originally AMC) owns GMC, chevy, pontiac, buick, caddy and geo. GM has affiliations with toyota (vibe/matrix, corrola/metro) isuzi (strom/impulse) and subaru (in another country there is a chevy forrester, oh and european GM is vauxhall
Chrysler: owns chrysler, dodge, jeep, plymouth, merged wth mitsubishi and benz i believe
Ford: owns ford, mercury, lincoln, jaguar, aston martin, lotus, and either owns or is partnered with mazda. oh and i believe they own saab
i'm sure theres others, it annoys me when they do this cuz then you could tihnk ur getting a car made by company A but its made by company B with company A'* badges slapped on
and obviously honda is acura, toyota is lexus, nissan is infiniti, and VW is audi

GM was never originally AMC. AMC was bought out by Chrysler in the 70s. Geo no longer exists. And the Euro GM is Opel (not sure if Vauxhaul even exists anymore).
Add one more to that list, VW owns Skoda.

GM owns GMC, Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Caddy, Saab, Hummer, Saturn.
GM woned Olds, Geo. These are just in the north american market.
GM has Opel in Europe. Don't know if GM own others there.
corrola is the same as prizm, not metro
I don't think Chrysler merged with Mitsubishi
Don't know if VW still owns Audi, it seems to me that separated some years ago, I am not sure....

Not sure about Audi. I know that Audi Porsche VW were the same at one point in time.

Don't forget the Aussies! Holden and GM are one and the same. Ford has different models in the land down under, including their line of Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV). Really, if you look at the websites for Holden and Ford Australia, they have WAAAAAY cooler cars to choose from than we do. RWD sound good anyone?
