A/C issue
Hi all! I am new to the forum and want to introduce myself. I have had my '97 Bonnie for two years now and love it, especially after reading some of the topics on this forum. I want to learn as much as I can so that I dont' have to deal with ******* mechanics who think that just because I am a female that I can't work on my own car.
My problem currently is that the front vents don't work. Both the heat and A/C take ages to blow out of these vents. Does anyone have advice?

Welcome to the club...you'll find that we are pretty laid back around here. And there are lots of helping hands too.
As to your problem, sounds like the blower motor is dead. If you know how to do it, it pretty easy to do. But, if you do go in to have it checked out, tell them you pretty sure the blower motor is dead.
My friend in his 92 SSE had this problem and the blower motor is mounted to the firewall behind the engine.
I think some members have done this kinda work, so sit tight and people will respond. Also, if you do a search on Blower Motors, you just might find some info from past postings.
Good luck!

Do you have the manual **** controls, or the electronic climate-control system with the fluorescent display, etc.?
Is the problem that you can't get the air to blow out at all, or that it will not come out through the dashboard vents? (e.g. It only blows out through the floor vents and/or the windshield ducts.)

Andy...could some of the vent be blocked? I remember in that 92 SSE that I mentioned, they needed to change the motor, and something about the heater core needing replacement.
In his car...the air volume passing thru the vents was next to nothing on all settings

At lunch I tried the A/C full on (although I did not try to set the temp to 60) and I tried the heat at 90 full on, but nothing came through the dash vents. Are there other tests I should try?

1) Heat isn't usually sent through the dash vents anyway, only room-temperature outside air, or A/C.
2) You can hear the blower spinning, right? It changes speeds when you change the fan speed setting, etc.?
3) Does the electronic display show that it'* directing air to the dash vents, at the time when you're finding nothing coming out there? In other words, is the controller trying to blow air through the dash vents, and failing?
