I guess I am a bit late on this one. I tried something similar on my 90 SSE and I could barely see a difference. We didn't bother changing the other side since the first one did nothing.

the backup lenses can melt, i got some halogen backup lamps and im never in reverse for too long, and the lanses have distorted a little, not really messed up but just got a little misshappen
