Brief smoking problem
Today for about 5 minutes my car smoked white, burnt oil smelling smoke them clear up and hasn't smoked since. It sometimes smokes when I first start it, but never before has it smoked while running. What would cause a Brief spell of smoking?

mine does the same stupid thing when she hasn't run for a few days.. mine is just moisure in the exhaust.. just like jr referred to. It never does it for 5 minutes though.. but it sure does it till the engine warms up a little [about a minute or two]. I was worried about it when i first saw it, but when the car was/is regularly driven, then that doesn't happen, so I know all is well in bonne land.. at least for me. If I were you i'd watch your oil level, if you start losing oil, then you are burning it, but if you can't notice a difference from oil change to oil change, then you are running great.

I smoked after it was run for a few hours. I ran to get something to eat, then to K-mart , then back to get my son at the inlaws. My fiance noticed the smoke. SO I had her rev it and I smelled the white smoke , smelled like oil. It really smoked for about 5 minutes then completely went away. It hasn't smoked since. Every now and then it smokes when it starts up, but this time it was after it was run awhile. It did go away though.

I use valvoline durablend. The engine was in a salvage yard and had 22000 miles on it when it was put in the car. It now has 47,000 miles on the engine.

when I changed the plugs the other day all looked great, almost new, except for one in the front that was pretty dirty, it was sort of wet, with clumps of carbon on it. I just checked the oil and its still clear as can be, dont know if that helps. For an engine with only 47,000 miles on it, it sure was smoking today.
Should I switch to maxlife from durablend?

Aside from its smoking spells, it has great oil pressure, clean oil, uses less than a quart per 2000 miles, do I have anything to really worry about?

Well, fired her up for work at 0550am and no smoke, not even steam, clear as clear can be. Now I am puzzled to what could cause a seal to only leak once in a blue moon, and when it does leak, it pours. Can someone who had better knowledge than me explain?
Also do you think the synthetic blend is making it worse? Should I switch back to dino-juice?
