I've never seen different color fluids before.

Only filthy and clear.

Neither had I. One of my staff is a gearhead, Mini Cooper, and was talking to me about different colors of break fluid.

I'm curious, is fresh brake fluid in the brakes actually measurable as in distance to stop from 60 or is it just feel according to you guys?

I felt a different pedal for sure.

Can't say that if you stomped on them the stopping distance would change in a panic stop. Because if you don't change pads or rotors..they should still be consistent. However the ability of the fuild to work better and perform better does exist. Therefore it may be a quicker response and better feel while the pads when squeezed at 600 ft lbs still stop in 120ft from 40mph.

yes it should stop better;

New fluid means no water = a stronger "sqwish" with the fluid = more hydrolic press.
on the caliper pistons = stronger sqweez on the rotor and drums

Let'* agree to say it depends how you look at it. Yes it should require less foot pressure to stop. I meant since the pads are the same..if they were squeezed to the same ft lbs..then they'd stop the same. You will feel like you stop faster and with less pressure on the pedal, and with a firmer pedal and less fade feeling.

They don't hurt if they are DOT approved. Some cheaper ones have been known to fail where the hose is crimped to the fitting.

Flex lines are maintenance items, just like pads, shoes, rotors, drums and, fluid.
Every time you service the brakes check them for cracking, swelling, kinks or, abrasions.

As to brake fluid color; ATE Super Blue is one of the better choices and is blue. I am certain there are others with other colors but I am not rich enough to find and try them all.

Stopping distance: Unless your brakes are very inadequate the only thing that will significantly impact stopping distance is tires. The brakes stop the tires, the tires stop the car.

Where brake upgrades make a difference is repeated hard use. Most stock brakes are designed for one or two hard stops, after that they start to get too hot and stopping distances get longer. Larger rotors (more heat capacity), better pads (more heat tolerance), and ducting (better heat dissipation) allow the brakes to be used harder before fading. Brake upgrades can make a big difference in feel and ease of modulation (ability to keep on the edge of wheel lock up).
