I had a similar problem on 2 of my cars. My 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme SL and the 90 SSE. When you drive the car it passes the bounce test with flying colors but when you drive it feels like a BOAT. I replaced my front shocks in both cases and problem was solved. I find that sometimes the shocks still do their job but do get softer with age.

That is just my from experience.

Looks like you have a good excuse to drop the car a little bit and give put some performance shocks in. I mean, if you're gonna replace, might as well do it all whileyour there, right?

That'* because the weight transfer of braking and cornering is more than a mere human can bounce into it. The bounce test is only really good for seeing if they're close to good.

Acceptable for driving is what Straitor is trying to get across .

I tend to take speed bumps a lot slower now that i have my bonnie. I care for it too much to go anything over 5 on a speed bump in that thing. I used to drive my dads suburban all around town. Thats a change from a suburban to a bonnie. Talk about difference in ride quality.

yeah, my dad'* suburban takes quite a beating.. he gets 16mph whether he'* got a pillow in the back, or towing a 12,000lb trailer. Its amazing, I like driving it, but it'* steering is really loose, and makes it pretty hard to drive in town, where you need to be exact with your steering.

Do the ELC trick and drive around for 5 minutes. If the front end seams to be bounce happy, you just might start looking for some nice KYB'*.
