Heres my take on it:

Its gotta be at least a 2003 SSEi, no older. Its gotta keep the 3800 Series II SC engine, but its gotta run under 12 seconds.

Its possible....hard, but very possible.

Who makes it? A collection of people who own shops, stores, and have access to helpful reasources. (Ty and Hector in my humble opinion)

I had a dream about this last night haha..Well a pimped out 2003 would be very nice but I think its a little out of the scope of the budget. 1000 members x 20 (assuming EVERYONE pays) = umm....hmmm....ahhhh. $200? no no....$20,000 that prooobably wouldn't get us a 2003 and a 12sec run. My figuring is finding a 97ish with maybe a blown trans or some other reason for selling it cheap without very heavy damage to the engine. Even though I'd like to take the same route I am making it more difficult but sure to draw more heads for 'effort' I think it'd be best because we have people reading this right now that have access to plenty of series II parts. It'll sell for hella cheap and since we're replacing the trans with an hd it shouldn't matter. So what; 4-5k for the car, ty might be able to pull a cheap trans out of his arse, 4-5k in the engine and 4k in the body and other goodies. THAT would get BonnevilleClub plastered all over a few mags for sure. The shops could be researched for best bang for buck. It would be an open forum that has areas to suggest parts and comment on planned for parts. Everything would be open for discussion and of course majority would rule. Polls would run rampid but would provide good info on the direction. Of course this would be like a year in the making but do you plan on having Bonnevilleclub around for another year? Sure as hell I do. And the publicity would get waaay more people here. More people visit and sponsors start knocking on your door begging to pay you. Think of where that can take us.

we need to find out what is the max that everyone is willing to contribute, we could all get our names on a plate in the trunk or something. I bet $50 per person would get us a fast 2000+SSEi. Also consider that not everyone might want to pay. (I would!)

I'll be finished mine in a few months hopefully & it will be no where near 20K( ofcourse I did just about everything myself) & I should be in the high 11'* at least & that is without the 200shot. I should be putting out around 590hp to the wheels(with nitrous). around 450 without.
I dropped the LS1 & went with a stroked LS6 engine that is supercharged.

Hmm but what about those with a *tight* budget. Maybe some kind of incentive to pay more. I like the name in the trunk idea maybe that will be the standard for $20-30 contribution. Maybe for $100 you can get your name on the dash and for $??? you can get it sprayed on the hood. I dunno but the incentive idea is out there. Oh and holy crap Ls1 what year? How? WHERE ARE THE PICS?! haha. But yeah that would be nice to own but I think we should keep with the stock engine. Just my thought but of course its up for debate. But remember LS1 we have to buy the car too and get all the work done, those prices add up quick. Also we're probably going to want (like Azwed said) a banging stereo system, dvd players all the good toys. An aggressive styling body kit and a good paint job. I'm sure that'll quickly add up to $20,000. But if we got HALF the members to contribute $50 we'd have $25,000 to play with....I think it can be done

jr's3800 Posted: Fri May 30, 2003 2:27 am Post subject:

Now this idea I'm liking.....

How about a light weight 88-91 SSE bonneville with a reworked 4.9(5.0) Caddy V8 to the tune of 300 HP and the high performance trans to go with it... I think its ASG.... And a 3400 lb bonneville... Damn that sounds pretty quick... Or a tweaked to hell L67... Willwren should know a lot about these by now....
I'm with jr on this one. It would need to be light and made lighter than a newer bonnie so you'd have to use an 87-91. and the best part is they are cheap and you have more money to give ty to put into it. All I know is that if you use a caddie motor then you are caddie powered and not bonnie powered so keep the 3800 and get it into the 11'* or whatever. Ya'll feeelin what I'm sayin??

Edited? wtf? anyway...

I think if this was ever to happen, investing in an older model is the way to...IMO, trust me we will never agree on this one :?
